Is It August Yet?February 4, 2008, 10:47 amHello again all. I apologize for not adding any content recently. But I'm back, and I plan to continue adding more stuff, even with the football season being ov.....ove....I can't even type it. Over...there, I did it. Ouch that hurts. It was a great finish to the season, with such a fantastic Super Bowl. The Giants played a tremendous game and deserve to be champs. The Patriots? Well, let's just say that wasn't the same New England team we saw all year. New York deserves a lot of credit for shutting down the "juggernaut" that was the Pats. I'd also like to give credit to Bill Belichick. He and his staff had a terrible game. I don't know why they decided to get away from what made the Pats so successful all season. When they were putting up points in record numbers, they were spreading the field and using their passing game efficiently. That wasn't the case yesterday. Instead they chose to play it close to the vest and run Maroney continuously. What happed to the attacking Patriots? And don't even get me started on the 4th and 13 play that Belichick decided to go for it on, when a 48-50 yard field goal attempt in a dome was at your feet. If you didn't notice, the Giants won 17-14...a 3 point difference. Sure could've used that field goal. Play conservatively for much of the game but aggressive on 4th and freaking 13. Hmmmm. But enough of that. It was a great Super Bowl and Eli and the Giants deserve a lot of credit. They were awesome. But alas (that's how I talk by the way, I say things like "alas" and "indeed" a lot), the football season is over. But never fear, next year will be here before you know it. I'm not going away. I'll try to provide occasional fantasy analysis of some of the player movement in the NFL as the off-season progresses. Who knows, you may even get a mock draft out of me in the next few weeks, so check back often. Thanks for a great season. Feel free to e-mail me any fantasy questions you may have at Tom@BCARadio.com Thanks for reading and may all your roster moves be profitable. Tom

Hey Look, It's Week 15December 16, 2007, 7:45 amAnd welcome to it. It's definitely Winter. Have you seen the shots from Gillette Field in Foxboro....brrrrrrr. I'm glad it'll be in the mid 60's as I head to today's Chargers/Lions game. This morning's inactives are starting to come in. Let's get to it; -I'll start off with some speculation. Both ESPN and Foxsporsts.com are saying it's looking more and more unlikely that Antonio Gates will play today. That's absolutely not set in stone, but, since that game is in the afternoon, you should probably look to start a different tight end unless you have the luxury of replacing him with someone else from the late games. -As expected Jeff Garcia start for the Buccaneers. Ike Hilliard is also active but I'd stay away from him. He can be very hit and miss. Others out for Tampa Bay are; FB B.J. Askew, RB Kenneth Darby, FB Zack Crockett, LB Jeremiah Trotter, G Dan Buenning, DE Greg Spires, DT Greg Peterson and QB Bruce Gradkowski. -Albert Haynesworth is in the starting lineup for the Titans. That's probably bad news for anyone that has Kolby Smith. Here are the players that are out for Tennessee; WR Paul Williams, WR Mike Williams, DB Kelly Herndon, RB Casey Cramer, LB Gilbert Gardner, C Leroy Harris, DE Sean Conover, and DE Bryce Fisher. -Laverneous Coles and Jerricho Cotchery will be in uniform for the Jets. I'd probably look elsewhere for WR help, however. Does brrrrrrrr ring a bell in New England. Here are the Jets' inactives; QB Marques Tuiasosopo, WR Chris Davis, OL Jacob Bender, OT Adrian Jones, TE Jason Pociask, LB Marques Murrell, DL Kareem Brown and DE Eric Hicks. -No real surprises for the Seahawks. D.J. Hackett remains out. Also out for Seattle are; CB Josh Wilson, DE Jason Babin, OL Mansfield Wrotto, OL Ray Willis, WR Courtney Taylor, DL Ellis Wyms and QB Charie Frye. -Todd Heap misses yet another week for the Ravens. Daniel Wilcox will get a lot of the snaps in his spot. The other Baltimore inactives are; K Rhys Lloyd, CB Samari Rolle, RB Cory Ross, DB Gerome Sapp, DT Amon Gordon, T Adam Terry and WR Demetrius Williams. -Chris Redman will get another start with the Falcons. He's played fairly well in the last two games considering the team around him is terrible. Joey Harrington will back him up. Roddy White is also good to go after being limited in practice all week. Out for Atlanta are; QB Byron Leftwich, CB Antonie Harris, G Justin Blalock, T Pat McCoy, DT Jesse Mahelona, T Harvey Dahl, TE Courtney Anderson and LB Travis Williams. -Nothing of note on the Jaguars list; WR John Broussard, RB LaBrandon Toefield, DB Aaron Glenn, LB Mike Peterson, G Uche Nwaneri, T Tutan Reyes, DE Jeremy Mincey, and DE Reggie Hayward. -As expected Kolby Smith is active for the Chiefs. I'd like him a lot more if Albert Haynesworth wasn't playing for the Titans. But he is. Kansas City's inactives are; FS Greg Wesley, RB Larry Johnson, CB Tyron Brackenridge, DT Alfonso Boone, T Kyle Turley, WR Bobby Sippio, and DT James Reed. -Ben Watson is out for the Patriots so look for another option there. Kyle Brady will take his spot and may get some looks. I go elsewhere. Did I mention the weather in Foxboro is terrible. Here are the lucky ones from New England that will get to sit in a nice warm box; QB Matt Gutierrez, WR Chad Jackson, S Rashad Baker, S James Sanders, RG Stephen Neal, C/G Billy Yates and WR Troy Brown. -No surprise but TE Eric Johnson and RB Reggie Bush are both out for the Saints. Expect Billy Miller to start for Johnson while Aaron Stecker will get a chance to expand on the 100 yard game he had on Monday. Here are the others from New Orleans that'll be sitting out; DT Brian Young, WR Robert Meachem, G Andy Alleman, CB Fred Thomas, T Jermon Bushrod and S Josh Bullocks. -As expected Marc Bulger returns to start for the Rams with Gus Frerotte backing him up. Brock Berlin moves back to his spot as the emergency QB. The St. Louis inactives are; WR Marques Hagans, WR Brandon Williams, DB Hanik Milligan, C Nick Leckey, T Rob Petitti, T Mark LeVoir, DT Claude Wroten. -Jesse Chatman is out for the Dolphins. Samkon Gado will take over for him once again but isn't a great fantasy option against a stiff Ravens run defense. Also out for Miami are; DB Tuff Harris, LB Channing Crowder, DT Anthony Bryant, T Julius Wilson, T Anthony Alabi, DE Rob Ninkovich and DT Paul Soliai. -No surprises for Buffalo. Here's their list; QB Gibran Hamdan, LB Coy Wire, RB Shaud Williams, DB Jerametrius Butler, OL Christian Gaddis, FB Ryan Neufeld, DE Bryan Copeland, and DT Jason Jefferson. -Also no big names on Cleveland's list; QB Ken Dorsey, DB Kenny Wright, DB Ricardo Colclough, C Marvin Philip, LB Antwan Peek, G Isaac Sowells, WR Travis Wilson, and DT Louis Leonard. -As expected Troy Polamalu is back for the Steelers. This will definitely give a nice boost to the Pittsburgh defense. You'll also notice that Ben Roethlisberger is good to go. I don't know if the shoulder injury will affect his play, but I think the weather might. The Steelers' inactives are; QB Brian St. Pierre, WR Willie Reid, DB Grant Mason, LB Andre Frazier, G Darnell Stapleton, T Trai Essex, TE Jon Dekker and DE Ryan McBean. -Vinny Testaverde is out so that means Matt Moore gets the start for Carolina. That hurts Steve Smith and all your Panthers. (Not that you should have many) Give Seattle's defense a nice boost in this one. Others out for Carolina; LB James Anderson, LB Brandon Jamison, G Evan Mathis, DE Stanley McClover, T Frank Omiyale, WR Keary Colbert and DT Gary Gibson. -Both Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin are active today for Arizona. The speculation, however, is that they'll both see a limited amount of snaps with Boldin getting fewer than Fitzgerald. I'd definitely get Fitzgerald into your lineup, but I would hold back on Boldin. I think that toe injury will hamper him and it wasn't like he was all that effective even he was healthier. Kurt Warner gets a boost with his star receivers available to him. Others out for the Cardinals are; QB Tim Hasselbeck, WR Jamaica Rector, S Bhawoh Jue, FB Tim Castille, LB Brandon Johnson, OL Elton Brown, DL Chris Cooper and DT Ross Kolodziej. -Bubba Franks is out again for the Packers. Good news for you Donald Lee owners. He should see all the snaps at tight end. Here are Green Bay's other inactives; QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Shaun Bodiford, CB Jarrett Bush, LB Tracy White, G Allen Barbre, DT Conrad Bolston, DT Daniel Muir. That's just about it. I'm off to see if the Chargers can get past their injuries and clinch the AFC West against the Lions. Go Bolts!! Thanks for reading and may all your roster moves be profitable. Tom Howell

Friday 12/14 NotesDecember 14, 2007, 10:28 amHello again all. I'm back from the islands and ready to help you out because fantasy playoff time is here! Let's get to todays player notes. -Marc Bulger practiced again today and will start for the Rams this week. I don't like his match-up against the Packers but his return is good news for Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. -Patrick Crayton was able to work through a complete practice today for the Cowboys. His ankle appears to be healed enough for him to play Sunday against Philly. But his inconsistent numbers of late make him hard to start with your season on the line. I'd put him as a mid range flex play at best. -Saints Tight End Eric Johnson has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a groin injury. Billy Miller will start in his place. I'd look elsewhere to fill your TE spot. -Albert Haynesworth missed another practice today. He'll be a game time decision for the Titans in their game against the Chiefs. Check my inactives Sunday morning if you have K.C.'s Kolby Smith. He'd get a nice bump if Haynesworth isn't able to go. -Anquan Boldin will be a game time decision Sunday against the Saints. He was able to do some limited work over the last two days as he tries to get past his toe injury. It's a good match-up for him against New Orleans, but I'd be hesitant to put my playoff life up against a receiver with a bad toe. Boldin has struggled a bit even when healthy. -Larry Fitzgerald will also be a game time decision for the Cardinals. I like his chances to play a bit more even though he was also limited in practice today. I'd make him a solid WR2 this week against the Saints. -The Eagles have ruled L.J. Smith out this week with a rib injury. Matt Schobel starts in his stead for Philly. -Brian Westbrook was limited in practice today with a knee injury but should be good to go on Sunday against the Cowboys. Check back that morning for Philly's inactives, but Westbrook should definitely be in your starting lineup unless otherwise noted. -Looks like it'll be at least another week for Bubba Franks to return for the Packers. That frees up all the TE snaps again for Donald Lee who has a fantastic match-up against the Rams. -It looks like Jeremy Shockey should be able to play Sunday as the Giants host the Redskins Sunday Night. It's a late game, so, we may not know for sure until that afternoon. But, unless you've got another solid option, he may be worth waiting for. He's got a pretty good match-up against the Washington secondary. That's what I've got for now. Don't forget to listen to The Fantasy Football Blitz with Mike Jackson and myself tonight from 8-10pm. If you don't get a chance to listen tonight, Mike and I will also be on for a bonus show Saturday from 10am-12:45pm to help you with all your fantasy queries. Also feel free to leave a comment here if you need help with your roster. I'll get on and try to answer your questions as soon as I possibly can. Thanks for reading and may all your roster moves be profitable. Tom Howell

Week #14 InactivesDecember 9, 2007, 7:10 amHappy week #14 everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much to update this week. I'm visiting family in Hawaii. I know, tough duty right? I've been rather busy, but I had to be here to get you this today's inactives. After all, it's fantasy football crunch time. So, without further ado, here's the list. Here come the afternoon inactives. -Troy Palomalu is out for Pittsburgh but Santonio Holmes returns to start. The Steelers will be without; QB Brian St. Pierre (3rd QB), WR Willie Reid, RB Gary Russell, SS Troy Polamalu, LB LaMarr Woodley, C Marvin Philip, G Darnell Stapleton, T Trai Essex. -Kolby Smith will start once again for the Chiefs. Larry Johnson is out once again. Also out are; WR Samie Parker, CB Rashad Barksdale, T Kyle Turley, T Damion McIntosh, WR Eddie Drummond, DT James Reed, and LB Kendrell Bell. -Javon Walker sits for the Broncos. A bit of a surprise, but probably for the best. He's looked terrible since returning from the knee injury. Give a small boost to Brandon Marshall and Brandon Stokley. Also out for Denver are; S Nick Ferguson, FB Mike Bell, S Marviel Underwood, G Isaac Snell, DE Larry Birdine, DE Paul Carrington, and QB Darrell Hackney. -There are no surprises for the Browns. Here's their list; WR Travis Wilson, QB Ken Dorsey, DB Kenny Wright, DB Ricardo Colclough, G Isaac Sowells, C Greg Eslinger, LB David McMillan, and DT Louis Leonard. -Also nothing shocking from the Patriots. Their inactives are; QB Matt Gutierrez, DB Eddie Jackson, DB Rashad Baker, G Steve Neal, T Wesley Britt, WR Troy Brown, DT Le Kevin Smith, and LB Chad Brown. -D.J. Hackett is out once again for Seattle. Bobby Engram will start in his spot. Also out for the Seahawks are; CB Josh Wilson, DE Jason Babin, OL Mansfield Wrotto, OT Ray Willis, WR Courtney Taylor, DE Baraka Atkins, and QB Charlie Frye. -Troy Williamson finds himself out again for the Vikings. Also out are; S Mike Doss, S Tank Williams, FB Naufahu Tahi, LB David Herron, G Artis Hicks and QB Kelly Holcomb. -Trent Dilfer starts again for the 49ers as Alex Smith continues to be out with his injuries. Out for San Francisco are; WR LeRon McCoy, CB Marcus Hudson, CB Shawntae Spencer, LB Roderick Green, T Patrick Estes, DL Atiyyah Ellison and WR Jason Hill. -Anquan Boldin is out for the Cardinals but Larry Fitzgerald returns. Bryant Johnson fills in for Boldin and is not a bad flex option. The other Arizona inactives are; QB Tim Hasselbeck, S Bhawoh Jue, FB Tim Castille, FS Aaron Francisco, G/T Elton Brown, DE Bo Schobel, and DT Ross Kolodziej. -Laverneous Coles and Jerricho Cotchery are both active for the Jets and are a pretty good play against the Browns. I like Coles a bit more. Out for New York are; WR Chris Davis, QB Marques Tuiasosopo, CB Andre Dyson, DE Mike DeVito, OL Jacob Bender, TE Jason Pociask, OL Adrian Jones, and DE Kareem Brown. -Just like he promised, Shawne Merriman will start despite the calf injury. That's great news for Chargers' fans. Interesting that Darren Sproles is out. Michael Turner may see some time returning kicks and Antonio Cromartie may try to electrify on punt returns. Buster Davis is also a possibility. Here are the other Bolts that are out; QB Charlie Whitehurst, CB Paul Oliver, LB Anthony Waters, T Roman Oben, WR Malcolm Floyd, TE Scott Chandler, and DE Luis Castillo. -The Chargers will have to face Albert Haynesworth. He wasn't able to practice all week with his lingering hamstring injury but is active. Expect him to see a limited amount of snaps, but he'll likely, still, hamper LT's numbers a bit. Out for the Titans are; WR Paul Williams, WR Chris Davis, DB Kelly Herndon, RB Casey Cramer, C Leroy Harris, DE Sean Conover, WR Brandon Jones, and DE Bryce Fisher. -Marshawn Lynch is good to go for the Bills. He's got a great match-up against the Dolphins and should be a solid RB2. Out for Buffalo are; QB Gibran Hamdan, LB Coy Wire, CB Jerametrius Butler, RB Shaud Williams, OL Christian Gaddis, FB Ryan Neufeld, DE Chris Kelsey, DE Bryan Copeland, and LB Leon Joe. -Jesse Chatman, however is out for Miami. Samkon Gado gets the start (don't bother). Also out is Marty Booker. Derek Hagan replaces him. Other Dolphins sidelined today are; CB Michael Lehan, LB Channing Crowder, DT Anthony Bryant, T Julius Wilson, DE Matt Roth, and LB Mark Washington. -The Buccaneers will go another week with Luke McCown at QB. Jeff Garcia is still out with his back injury. Also out for Tampa Bay are; RB Michael Pittman, RB Lionel Gates, LB Jeremiah Trotter, G Dan Buenning, TE Keith Heinrich, DE Greg Spires and DT Greg Peterson. -We'll have two McCowns playing at the same time because the Raiders will once again start Josh McCown. Daunte Culpepper and JaMarcus Russell are both out for Oakland. Also on the bench are; RB Dominic Rhodes, CB John Bowie, S Jarrod Cooper, C Jake Grove, T Mario Henderson and DT Josh Shaw. -Brandon Jacobs' is back on the field and starting today. Reuben Droughns will back him up. If Jacobs can go without aggravating his hamstring injury, he's a solid RB2. Droughns will probably spell him and could be a surprise flex position start. He'll probably, at worst, get 8-10 carries and could see some goal line work. Here are the Giants inactives; WR Steve Smith, FS Gibril Wilson, RB Danny Ware, QB Jared Lorenzen, SS James Bulter, OLs Kevin Boothe and Adam Koets, and DT Russell Davis. -T.J. Houshmandzadeh is active for the Bengals. That's good news because of his excellent match-up against the Rams. The Cincinnati players out this week include; FS Madieu Williams, WR Marcus Maxwell, CB David Jones, LB Jim Maxwell, RT Willie Anderson, TE Nate Lawrie, QB Jeff Rowe, and DE Frostee Rucker. -For the Lions, it's no surprise that Roy Williams is out today and possibly for the rest of the season. That gives a nice boost to Calvin Johnson. He'll see more looks. Shaun McDonald will start opposite him and is a pretty good flex option against the Cowboys. Mike Furrey is also, now, fantasy viable. The all have to hope for better games out of Jon Kitna, however. Here are the others out this week for Detroit; WR Roy Williams, OG Barry Stokes, LB Boss Bailey, QB Dan Orlovsky, DL Kalimba Edwards, OL Manuel Ramirez, RB Tatum Bell, and CB Tony Beckham. -The Rams are down to Brock Berlin at quarterback (ouch). Marc Bulger is still suffering from his concussion and Gus Frerotte has a shoulder injury. That should hurt Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce, even though the match-up against the Rams is a pretty good one. Also out for St. Louis are; WR Brandon Williams, CB Eric Bassey, C Nick Leckey, T Rob Petitti, T Mark LeVoir, and DE Trevor Johnson. -As expected, Brett Favre will start today for the Packers. I know he got a lot of you to this point of the season, but I can't recommend starting him this week. He's been terrible in the past coming off injuries and it the Raiders do defend the pass fairly well. I expect Green Bay to use Ryan Grant a bunch against one of the league's worst rush defense. Meanwhile Bubba Franks is out once again. That means Donald Lee will once again see almost all the stats at TE but, keep in mind, the Raiders cover tight ends very well. Here are the rest of the Packers' inactives; QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Shaun Bodiford, RB Brandon Jackson, LB Tracy White, G Allen Barbre, DT Daniel Muir and DT Johnny Jolly. Note that Rodgers is out with a bad hamstring. Craig Nall will back-up Favre. -The Texans will start Sage Rosenfels at QB as Matt Schaub sits with a shoulder injury. Don't even think about starting Sage against the Bucs. Others out for Houston include; DB Dexter Wynn, LB William Kershaw, LB Danny Clark, C Drew Hodgdon, T Jordan Black, T Brandon Frye and WR David Anderson. -Nothing to exciting on Carolina's list. QB David Carr, WR Dwayne Jarrett, OLs Frank Omiyale and Jeremy Bridges, DE Charles Johnson, DT Gary Gibson, LB James Anderson, and DB C.J. Wilson are all out. Vinny Testaverde starts at QB for the Panthers. -No surprises with the Cowboys. Here are their inactives; WR Terry Glenn, CB Evan Oglesby, RB Tyson Thompson, G Joe Berger, T Doug Free, T James Marten, WR Isaiah Stanback, and DL Remi Ayodele. -There's also nothing to speak of with Jacksonville. Here are the Jaguars that are out; WR John Broussard, CB Aaron Glenn, RB LaBrandon Toefield, FS Lamont Thompson, LB Mike Peterson, DL Reggie Hayward, OG Tutan Reyes, and OG Uche Nwaneri. That's it for now. I'll be back later with the afternoon inactives. Thanks for reading and may all your roster moves be profitable. Tom Howell
